The staff were friendly and always helpful. breakfast was good with multiple choices. i enjoyed the spa facilities. The whole place has a relaxing atmosphere. the lounge was a nice quiet retreat to read and contemplate.
the hotel is in the middle of nowhere with not much around.

I had room 30, a double aspect room with two doors onto the shared terrace. I recommend it. the bistro rump was cooked just right, lovely and plump, and the burger was possibly the best ever. breakfast was also lovely, with a glorious view down towards the castle. i appreciated the good quality bath products and the excellent power shower.
There was a bit of mould on the windows, understandable given the condensation. I forgot to mention it, though, when i checked out.

the hotel provides attractive, well-kept gardens. it is conveniently close to the a66 for those looking for a stop while en-route. the location also provides views over the eden valley with the top of appleby castle visible in the distance.

the staff are happy to help with anything and are very cute. i noticed everyone was friendly, attentive, helpful and professional. i was advised on local things to see and do in the area, very helpful!

i ate a restaurant meal and also tried the bistro and afternoon tea. there were large breakfasts as well. the food was delicious and well-presented. i also enjoyed cocktails in the bar!

The bar lounge has beautiful views.
There was quite a bit of mould on the windows , not surprising given the amount of condensation. The bathroom and windows are dated and could do with an upgrade. There were ants on our table at breakfast.

the room was ready even though i arrived early to use the spa. i was shown my room. i was very happy with it. we then had a lovely evening meal of chicken supreme. breakfast was lovely with lots of choice. the staff were very helpful!!!

my room faced the main road. it was also a little confined.
